The New York Times’ “Wife/Mother/Work/Spy” columnist Michelle Slatalla, celebrates her 48th today, along with husband, Time’s Josh Quittner and the couple’s three daughters. Slatalla has been at the Times since February 1998.

Slatalla and Quittner met when both worked at Newsday. She grew up in the Chicago suburbs.

In a column last month, Slatalla confesses her passion for cabbage and adds: “I feel so strongly about this excellent source of dietary fiber and riboflavin that I married my husband, in part, for his Nana’s top-secret stuffed cabbage recipe.”

Thursday, December 3, 2009:

Barron’s Editor and President Ed Finn Jr. is slated to spend his 55th birthday today hosting the Barron’s Winner’s Circle Women’s Top 100 Financial Advisors of 2009. The event runs through December 4th at The Breakers in Palm Beach.

Finn also carries the title of chairman and editor in chief of SmartMoney magazine, which is co-owned by Dow Jones & Company and Hearst Communications. Finn, who hails from Whitinsville, MA, first joined Dow Jones in 1980 and then left in 1986 for stints at Forbes and American Banker. He returned to Dow Jones in March 1993.

In May 2001, Finn married Cheryl Lee Henson, daughter of the late Jim Henson of Muppets fame. Finn’s father was a pharmacy owner.
